Beirut clashes coverage

At 1356 gmt, CNNI broke into a commerical break during the rerun of World Sport, for some breaking news. Stephen Frazier, live in Atlanta, brought news of violent clashes in Beirut, Lebanon between students at the Arab Beirut University and government forces. Live pictures were shown from Lebanese-broadcaster LBC of the clashes.

Stephen also brought fresh news of a huge explosion in Baghdad and the latest from the operation around Haifa Street.

Andrew Stevens, live in Hong Kong, took over from Stephen Frazier at 1400 gmt while live pictures from LBC continued.

This is fascinating.
I’d been taught that left-aligned labels are preferred, to support the prototypical F-shaped eye-tracking heatmap of web browsing. The idea is that it supports easy vertical scanning.
