CNN’s God Warriors Adds duPont to List of Prestigious Awards

CNN Press Release - The highly acclaimed CNN Presents: God’s Warriors continues to garner prestigious awards into 2009 as the Christiane Amanpour documentary received an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism on Monday, Jan. 12. The university cited the documentary for providing a “global documentation of the rise of religious fundamentalism.”

God’s Warriors stands as one of the most honored documentaries of recent years, having already won a George F. Peabody award, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ inaugural Television Academy Honor, a National Headliner award and a Gracie Allen award among many others.

For God’s Warriors, a three-part, six-hour television event aired across CNN’s U.S. and international networks in August 2007, Christiane Amanpour traveled to six countries to report this epic documentary. A critical and ratings success, God’s Warriors was watched by approximately 15 million cumulative viewers in the United States and millions more around the world.
