Weekly Observations - week ending April 2, 2011

This is our weekly round-up of the tidbits that didn't make it to a post of their own, but are worth noting, along with news items that we've covered that may need a second look.

- CNN producers remember a fallen colleague; one of some 50 + people killed in a sickening attack in Iraq earlier this week.

- CNN won a Peabody for coverage of BP oil spill.

- CNN Newsroom anchor, Carol Costello, has been making news with her interview with Donald Trump earlier this week. The Huffington Post details the chat in which Costello calls Trump "a joke".

- CNN en Español will launch two new control rooms with advanced technology in Atlanta this spring.

- Katherine Green, CNN International Senior Vice President of Programming, speaks to Sky News Australia.

- Fareed Zakaria appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno earlier this week. Watch part 1 and part 2.

- Africa’s leading telecommunications Company MTN extended its commercial partnership with CNN International this month.

- Japan earthquake, tsunami coverage boosts CNN.com.

- CNN correspondent Frederik Pleitgen comes under sniper fire in Misrata.

- Jaeger-LeCoultre launches new segment sponsorship on CNN International's Back|Story.

- Finally, something we neglected to mention in last week's Weekly Observations. CNN International's News Stream celebrated its 100th show last week. As part of the anniversary, host Kristie Lu Stout posted the top 100 twitter accounts to follow. The list is compiled from those who have "informed and inspired" the program's coverage from day 1. We were completely blown away to make the list with our CNN Observations twitter account and for our CNNfan.org forum twitter account. Here's the full list of the other 98 twitter accounts you should be following.
